Bye-bye Microplastics

It is dawning upon us that every piece of plastic that has ever been made still exists. Once plastic enters the environment, they eventually break down into smaller pieces of the original piece of plastic. These fragments of 5.0mm in size or less are referred to as microplastics.

To understand the extend of this problem, BBP and over 100 volunteers from local businesses recently took part in North Sydney Council’s Clean Up Australia Business Day at Berry Island Reserve on 26 February.

For this event, the Australian Microplastic Assessment Project provided the business volunteers with the opportunity to take part in a microplastics survey of Gore Cove Beach, adjacent to Berry Island Reserve on Sydney Harbour.
