Missed Business Guide

24 February 2015

BBP, in conjunction with Willoughby City Council's Access Committee and our other partnering Councils -  Lane Cove, North Sydney and Ku-ring-gai - are very proud to launch the Missed Business Guide. Aimed at small businesses the free guide aims to help business owners and managers understand how to improve access to their goods and services for a large part of our community – customers who have a disability.

The guide outlines simple steps owners and managers can take to make their business more accessible to all potential customers, and thus attract more business. Simple actions include removing obstacles, providing high contrast signs and training staff on how to provide appropriate assistance.

In Australia 3.6 million people, or 19 per cent of the population, have a disability and more than 55 per cent of people over 55 years have mobility, sight or hearing difficulties."We encourage businesses to consider the benefits of increasing the accessibility of your business by taking a look at this free guide as this is good for business and good for our community” said Willoughby Council Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney.
