Get the Local Edge - Launch Wrap Up

12 December 2014

A big thank you to everyone who attended the first event in the Get the Local Edge series. The series was very successful with attendees enjoying “energetic and entertaining presentations”, “well regarded and knowledgeable speakers”, “feeling part of the local community” and “hearing tips to improve my business”. Town Planner, Jo Kelly from People, Place and Partnership explained how to connect with other businesses and the community to create thriving local villages. Watch the YouTube clip to hear Jo Kelly’s top three takeaway tips local businesses can implement to improve their business. Whilst Lisa Fox from Open Shed explained what collaborative consumption is and how it can benefit your bottom line.

BBP Champion businesses in our four partnering Council’s provided interesting and practical information about how they came to operate more efficiently and what actions they took. Our thanks to Allan from Eastern Road Quality Meats,  Penny from Dancing Lady Florist and Sascha from Sage Hair and Beauty. Learning what challenges these business have faced in implementing sustainable initiatives, and how they overcome them, was very inspiring.

Stay tuned for information on upcoming Get the Local Edge events. The next series focuses on performing a Business Health Check: how to ‘tune up’ your business and achieve your goals. These events will be held in February and March.
