THE STORY BEHIND OUR TROPHIES
Better Business Partnership commissioned local award winning artist Marina Debris whose work focuses on reusing trash to raise awareness of ocean and beach pollution. Marina’s installation art work the “Inconvenience Store" was the joint recipient of the Allens People’s Choice Award at the 2017 Sculpture By the Sea and won the Waverley Council Mayor’s Prize. Marina was awarded with the Sydney Water Environmental Sculpture Subsidy for her work on water pollution and consumption.
The Better Business Award trophies were constructed from 100% recovered items. The trophy bases were found from council clean-outs while the shards of plastic were picked up from the eastern suburb beaches that Marina frequents. These were fashioned into unique art pieces that will without a doubt start many a conversation about single use plastic and our society of convenience.
