Winners of the Better Business Awards 2017

Congratulations to the winners of the Better Business Awards 2017!
The Better Business Awards on Thursday 15th June 2017 are a celebration of champion local businesses who are achieving success through sustainability. The Awards are presented by the Better Business Partnership, a joint Council service funded by Ku-ring-gai, North Sydney and Willoughby Councils. The MC for the night was the Australian writer and comedian Craig Reucassel, currently lifting the lid on Australia’s addiction to rubbish on ABC TV’s War on Waste.

THE STORY BEHIND OUR TROPHIES

Better Business Partnership commissioned Ku-ring-gai Men's Shed to build this year's award trophies out of reclaimed and recycled materials.
The awards are made from the last remaining sections of old hull plate of the steam ship John Oxley with the bases made from the original teak decking.
The John Oxley is a 700-ton steamship built for the Queensland Harbour Trust in 1927.
